Wedding Gifts
It is traditional for Chinese Wedding Banquet guests to provide “red envelopes”to the Bride and Groom. Therefore, we have decided not to have a wedding gift list.
Red envelopes will be sent to Wedding Banquet guests along with your invitation. Guests who wish to offer a gift should:
- Write your name on the back of the envelope.
- Place cash into the envelope.
- When deciding on the amount, guests should choose an even number that does not contain “4”. Chinese superstition dictates that odd numbers are reserved for funerals. While the number “4” is associated with bad luck, misfortune and death. The number “8” is considered a lucky number and represents good fortune and wealth.
- On arrival at the Wedding Banquet, you will be asked to sign a silk cloth where you will have the opportunity to provide the red envelope to a member of our immediate family (who will look after our gifts).
For the guys at QA-IQ, Orla O’Neill will be organising a collection.
For the guys at Miss Selfridge please speak to Cherilee Trowse.
